The Rivers orchard, meadow and scrubland is home to over 200 recorded species, including several listed as endangered. Examples include the Turtle Dove, Song Thrush and the White Letter Hairstreak, Brown Angus, Small Copper and Small Blue butterfies. The site is designated as a County Wildlife Park. Charmaine Cooper kept a monthly wildlife diary from her visits to the site for many years. The last few years of which can be read here.
