Laxton's Fortune was raised in 1904 by Laxton Brothers at Bedford. It received a first class certificate from the RHS in 1948.

It is flushed red over a greenish-yellow skin with red stripes and a small degree of russeting. Fortune is a good quality, medium-sized apple with a creamy flesh which is sweet, juicy, aromatic and mildly acidic.

Fortune is picked in late August to mid-September. It can be eaten straight from the tree. It has a short storage time. After a month it will start to soften.
